Rural Maryland Track Restoration CRISI Project (2023)

Tracks from 1898.

Derailments every month.

A shipper dependent on rail access.

It has the makings of a nightmare scenario. This shipper depends on reliable rail service, without it, the business and over 100 direct and indirect jobs finds another home, probably in another state.

Prior to LMRS, Tom helped advance a large infrastructure renewal project which utilized a Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement (CRISI) grant from the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), the first ever in the state of Maryland. This multi-million dollar project made the major repairs necessary to ensure reliable rail service for this area of rural Maryland.

Monitoring the construction phase of the project, and benefitting from feasibility and design work already completed, Tom held regular meetings with shippers, the railroad operations staff, and neighbors to the railroad corridor to ensure the project advanced without major issues. Thanks to excellent teamwork, this project was complete on time and under budget. With a life span of over 50 years, rail infrastructure investments play a key role in the competitiveness of our future economy.
